Photographing your products
Good photos are the biggest single thing you can do to sell more.
Photographing your products
Photos are the first (and sometimes only) thing buyers look at. You don't need a fancy camera — a clean phone shot in good light beats a blurry studio shot every time.
The basics
- Natural light is your friend. Shoot near a window in daylight, not under fluorescent indoors.
- Plain background — a white wall, a clean table, a neutral sheet. Avoid clutter behind the product.
- Multiple angles — front, side, back, close-ups of any key detail (label, stitching, defects).
- Honest condition shots — if the item has wear, photograph it. Surprised buyers leave bad reviews and open disputes.
What to avoid
- Heavy filters that change the colour
- Cluttered backgrounds (your laundry, your TV)
- Borrowed product photos from Google. Buyers can reverse-image-search and they'll lose trust instantly
Quick wins
Clean the item before shooting. Wipe smudges. Iron clothes. Most listings look 50% better with 30 seconds of prep.
